There isn’t much I remember about my own education… a large, red grammar book; dissecting a shark; accidentally calling a teacher Daddy instead of Mr. Adkins. (Forever one of my most embarrassing moments.) My school days were a mixed bag of options: public school in elementary, homeschool and public school in middle, and a blend…
Hi there, friend. I’m Christina: wife, mom, and lifelong learner on a homeschool journey that’s come full circle.
Books are still my happy place (preferably by water or in a hammock), but so much has changed since I first began homeschooling years ago. Life has taught me a few humbling, beautiful lessons:
1- I struggle with consistency, but grace carries me.
2- Living a chemical-free and natural lifestyle is extremely important to me, but so is balance. My husband says I’m crunchy, but you aren’t going to catch me with dreds or bamboo underpants.
3- My parenting is far from perfect, but it the absolute best and most sanctifying thing the Lord has called me to do.
4- Homeschooling isn’t just a task; it’s a calling I deeply cherish.
5- Peace in my home starts with simplifying what overwhelms me.
I’m married to my Music Man, Dustin. We have three amazing kids, Lane, Cora, and Hazel. Right now, I’m back in the early days of homeschooling—with my youngest, Hazel—while guiding our older ones along their unique paths. I remember the nerves, the self-doubt, the “Am I doing enough?” moments. We follow the classical model through Classical Conversations. That means rich conversations, timeless ideas, and truth pursued in community. But more than that, it means a home filled with intentional rhythms and wonder.
I want to share glimpses of our life; not because it’s perfect, but because it’s real. Our home may not be Pinterest-polished, but it’s full of life, warmth, and learning. When the conversation shifts to a connection between a great piece of literature and a current event, my classical heart sings.
This blog is my invitation to you. Whether you’re starting fresh or starting over, I want these pages to gently encourage you: to help you create a home where learning is slow, deep, and full of joy.
Here, you’ll find reflections on classical homeschooling, simple living, and the faith that anchors it all. If you’re questioning whether you’re “enough” to lead your kids in this journey, know this: God equips those He calls.
Let’s pursue truth, beauty, and goodness—together, from the heart of home.
